Embodied Cycle
Connecting deeper into the ebb and flow of our cycle
In our last post, we introduced the Embodied Cycle. We wanted to provide you with a more detailed explanation of what each part of the embodied cycle entails.
Follicular Phase
🌷 Spring::Waxing Moon::Maiden
The ripening and beginning of the menstrual cycle. The first day after your period is Day 1 of your Spring. Spring foods include nuts, legumes, and seeds. The Moon grows during the waxing phase. This phase's energy is one of growth, progress, expansion, and action. The Maiden Archetype is a bud on the precipice. A time to embark on whatever is next—entering the world, going into the depths, finding oneself.
Ovulation Event
☀️ Summer::Full Moon::Warrior
An active and energized part of the cycle. Basking in the sun of estrogen at its highest release. Summer foods are uncooked fruits and vegetables. Historically, sowing and harvesting occurred during the Full Moon. A full moon's energy is one of abundance, celebration, and the power of manifestation. The Warrior is in the moment, living the work, fiercely embracing whatever arises. The Warrior is full of blossoming knowledge.
Luteal Phase
🍂 Fall::Waning Moon::Soul Seeker
A quieting and nurturing time while the uterine lining fills out. Like the leaves changing, this season brings more changes to our mental, emotional, and physical selves. Fall foods include cooked grains, such as rice or quinoa, and steamed vegetables. The Waning Moon gets smaller and darker. The moon's energy is soul-searching, letting go, and healing. The Soul Seeker Archetype sees the petals drop one by one. This is a slowing, a quieting, as the Nurturer looks inward. The importance of not-doing is the Soul Seeker’s superpower.
Bleeding (Menses)
❄️ Winter::New Moon::The Crone
A time of death and endings. As in nature, death is a necessary part of growth. This is the end of the cycle where bleeding prepares us for a new beginning. Winter foods are cooked root vegetables and red meat if you're a carnivore. For a few days, the Moon is dark and often has just a halo of light. The New Moon is a time to slow down and rest. The energy that the darkness brings is reflection and intention. This is a time for planning and new beginnings. The Crone Archetype is the darkness, the hibernation of the flower, that invites wisdom. The Crone is all-knowing, intuitive, psychic, and capable of traveling between worlds.
