What words or phrases do you use to talk about menses?
Slang is an indicator of how we feel about things, especially when it comes to topics that are deemed “taboo.” Slang can be a positive or negative representation—in the case of menses we see negative and almost comic words used to distance ourselves from the physiology of our bodies.

We love to call it bleeding. It feels visceral and honest!
Menses is our season of Winter represented by the New Moon and the Crone. It is a time of death and endings. As in nature, death is necessary for growth. This is the end of the cycle where bleeding prepares us for a new beginning.
